Model Number: GEQ9800PB0 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years
Dryer will not dry in one cycle
Things I have tried: Cleaned out vent hose and replaced an elbow that was restrictive Cleaned lint from around the fan, filter, heating element and anywhere else I could get to Ran a cycle with no clothes and no vent hooked up : 150-170 degrees When I hook the vent up it drops to 140 and stays there...no clothes I thought it might be a flow problem because my exhaust vent is about 20ft long so I installed a duct booster. It helped some but still have to run 2 cycles Help please Ads By Google Related Models |

Hi.
First of all run the dryer with the wet clothes inside and vent disconnected. See if that makes a difference. If it does - the problem is outside the dryer, if not - try to replace the cycling thermostat #42 and hi-limit thermostat #48 on the diagram Bulkhead parts for Whirlpool GEQ9800PB0 - AppliancePartsPros.com Get them both and return one you don't need. Post the results. Simon.

Changed both thermostats, ran a cycle with no clothes. Temps were a little higher than before so I tried a load of clothes. It dried them 95%....so I was pretty happy with that. Dried the next load and no heat at all....I ohmed the heating element and it reads 11 ohms.
What should I check now? I am about to say screw it and buy another dryer. |

Hi.
The heater's resistance is normal. Check if there is 240VAC to the heater (with one wire off) and trace the leg without the voltage. Possibly the thermal cut off kit Part number: 279769 Post the result. Simon.
