The dryer is taking to long to dry anything - even light weight clothing. I have replaced the dryer venting (as apposed to vacumming it) I have vacummned every area that could be vacummed, including the dryer blower housing and fan area. First part to be replaced was the Operating Thermostat - STILL WON'T DRY CLOTHES in less than 3 to 4 hours.
Anyone else having this problem?
I just ordered a Heater Element another Thermostat (this dryer has 3) a Thermal Fuse and a new Blower Wheel (just in case).
It has been suggested that the Blower Wheel may not be remaining engaged due to wear and the age of the machine.
02/11/2013 - Yesterday I replaced the Thermal Fuse and that did not repair the problem. I did discover when I went into the bulkhead alot of lint - AND as I first guessed the Rear Drum Felt Seal is shot, causing all the lint to get inside the bulkhead and not properly vent outside. I understand this is a common problem with older machines and should be looked at. The seal was dryrotted, cracked and in some places missing (hense the large amount of lint).
Next step replace the seal and return all the extra parts I ordered.

Hi.

Check the connections at the terminal block at the back of the dryer where the power cord is attached.
Run the normal load of clothes without the vent connected to the dryer.
Did you take out and clean the lint chute? (It's the lint filter housing.)

Post the results.

Simon - If you saw what I added to my post before, Lint backup had nothing to do with it. The rear felt seal is shot. To bad I have to wait until Sunday when I have time to fix this. - Martha
