Model Number: SD900 Brand: -other- Age: 1 - 5 years
Come across this invaluable forum on Google whilst searching for my problem.
Have the dryer - the belt broke a couple of weeks back, called in the repairman, he replaced the belt. Since using it after he replaced the belt, it seems to stop every couple of minutes and then restarts after. There's a little clicking each time - sounds like a heat thing is turning off. Have looked around a bit but can't seem to find a solution. Perhaps one of you pros could advise? Thanks a lot Ads By Google Related Models |

I cannot find any info on the given model number.
Please check it. Find your model number - AppliancePartsPros.com Also a make might be helpful. it seems to stop every couple of minutes and then restarts after. I find the above confusing, what do you mean by "seems to stop". If it stops it should not be able to restart by itself as the start switch should be open and it's bypass centrifugal switch should also open once the motor stops rotating.

The make is a Spectra, and this make wasn't in the list.
What I mean by seems to stop is, that it goes quiet, sounds like a quiet switch - possibly the heat thing - is gone off. The dryer starts turning again though, after a couple of minutes. It never did this before the belt was changed and now it takes almost twice as long to dry a load. Thanks |

Sorry but I still cannot find any info on this unit.
If it is a non USA model then I probably will not be able to help you. Might be best to start a new post using "Post New Topic" with the make to see if someone else can help. Also I still do not understand your problem so you may want to give a more detailed description of the problem in your new post. What I mean by seems to stop is, that it goes quiet, sounds like a quiet switch I have no idea what a quiet switch is - possibly the heat thing - is gone off. Not sure what this means re: heat produced by the heating coil or the motor overheating. In the units that I am familiar with there is nothing in the heating coil circuit that will shut the motor/drum off and then re-start it. There is a thermal protect built into the motor but if this trips the motor/drum should not restart by itself. The dryer starts turning again though, after a couple of minutes. Without some info on the unit I cannot say whet is going on. I would just be giving you wild guesses which is not very helpful. It never did this before the belt was changed and now it takes almost twice as long to dry a load. I think you have to determine if the motor is actually shutting off or is the belt slipping on the drum or motor's pulley. If it is lipping then odds are that either the belt was installed incorrectly or it was the wrong belt. You may want to try and turn the drum manually in the correct direction. It should turn fairly easily, could be the drum was re-installed incorrectly. Also you may want to try this on a couple other dryers just to get a feel for it. Sorry I could not help you out.
