Model Number: GEW9868KQ2 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years
My Whirpool dryer will not start. The control panel lights up and appears to work ok. You can selet start and the dryer timer will cycle down. However, nothing starts up. There is no motor noise (seems to eliminate a broken drum belt) and I can not feel any heat. I've looked for an online repair maual to download and can't seem to find that. Any suggestions.

Hi.
You should check the thermal fuse. Use the multimeter to check it's continuity. If it's open - replace the fuse and make sure the air flow through out the dryer and outside vent is not restricted. The fuse Part number: 3392519 It's #59 on the diagram Bulkhead parts for Whirlpool GEW9868KQ2 - AppliancePartsPros.com Post the results. Simon.

After opening front panel, I found that belt was indeed broken. I made a false assumption that the motor would run with a broken belt. Turns out there is a belt switch in series with the motor. Thus the motor will not run with the belt not in place. Checked the thermal fuse, thermistor, thermal cut-off, high limit thermostat and heater element with an ohm meter and they all appear to be ok. Ordering a belt and will post the results after installation. Thanks to Appliance Parts Pros for finding me a tech sheet for this dryer model.
