![]() It seems that switch four on timer switch should power up dryer. I think I should jumper T - W to power dryer. On back side of connection I get 120 V across T -W with timer going and when I push the push to start switch.
I think its the timer switch but not positive. It could still be the motor? Joe |

![]() That's just because you seem to know everything already.
I just went through this and the thermal fuse, door switch and start switch are the problem 99% of the time with a non starter. Here is what I used to educate myself on testing those three things for most any electric Whirlpool/Kenmore Electric dryer when they will not start. Mine is a (WED4900XW1). 1) Door Switch Replacement (Part #3406107) Door Switch Replacement (part #3406107) - Whirlpool/ Kenmore Electric Dryer Repair - YouTube You can test/bypass the door switch by removing it and passing a wire through the two outer ports in the plug. If the dryer works now, then you know that the door switch was the problem. New part should cost $20-30. 2) Thermal Fuse Test (Part# 3392519) Dryer Thermal Fuse Test - YouTube Kenmore Whirlpool Dryer Won't Start - Easy Fix - YouTube You can test/bypass the thermal fuse by pulling both wires off the fuse and connecting them. Alternately, an ohm meter should read 0 resistance when it is unplugged. New part should cost $15-25 3) Checking & Replacing the Starter Switch (Part #3398095, 10117655) Start switch Whirlpool 29 inch electric or gas dryer - YouTube This video does an excellent job of showing you how to test the starter switch by bypassing it, and also using an ohm meter to test the internal circuitry. Blue to Blue should have zero resistance when the button is depressed. New part should cost $30-45 Repair Diagrams and Parts Lists: https://www.whirlpool.com/digitalass...0W10507476.pdf Whirlpool Website: http://www.whirlpool.com/laundry-1/laundry-2/dryers-3/-[WED4900XW]-1001611/WED4900XW/ |
