GE dryer timer replaced, but cycles ae different!

A plastic ring inside the timer of our 20 yr old dryer broke, so I searched for and ordered a compatible replacement timer. The original part# was WE04X0795. The replacement timer part# is WE4X795, & is described as "functionally equivalent". However.....the cycles are completely different! The only thing the same is the "OFF" position at 12o'clock. Our dryer has push buttons to select High heat, Medium heat & No heat. I suspect that the replacement timer has those 3 options incorporated in the selector knob, as the dryer now stops & starts in additional places & the degree of heat varies.
I googled the part #, & it is usually found on GE DDE9600RAM. Can anyone supply a picture of the backsplash assembly, so I can see what thecycles are?
Thank you!

I cannot find a picture of the faceplate, tried several places.

But following is the operators manual for this unit which may help.
