Loud Rattling or Scraping Noise
Model Number: DDE7200RALWH Brand: GE Age: More than 10 years
Dryer has a loud rattling or scraping sound and it's origin is hard to distinguish. I have replaced and greased (white lithium) the glide kit, rear bearing (nylon bushing) and also the blower fan. The original blower fan was scraping even when dryer was off and turned by hand (do to rounded out D shaped center hole) and by replacing it I had hoped the problem was solved. Not so, and now the loud scraping sound only happens when dryer is turned on. Tension pulley seems ok. My conclusion at this point is possibly a bad bearing in the motor shaft assembly, which seems tight when spun by hand. Noise is only evident while under load.
