Hello, I have a whirlpool model LER4434AQ0 and have removed the back of the dryer attempting to replace the heating element. However the housing is a solid unit unlike some that were "broken" and have two screws holding the element in.

Hi.

To replace the heater remove the heater box Part number: 695547

Take 2 - 5/16" screws at the bottom out and pull the heating element from the box.

Simon, as stated in my first post, the housing is a SOLID unit. I've watched videos of the procedure you refer to but it is not my case. There are no two screws to remove. As a matter of fact if you explode the picture you sent there is one screw that is difficult to get to on the back side that holds the element in place.

According the model number this is a standard heating element. If you have one screw holding it to the housing - take that screw out and pull the old element.
Or there is something I'm missing?
