Hi.
Most likely you need a new motor. Please provide the correct model number of the dryer. Simon.

As Simon said you will probably need a new motor to fix the problem permanently.
If you used WD-40 try a different lubicant (3in1 or sewing machine or even motor oil. WD-40 is not a very good lubricant. If nothing else a proper oil should last longer.

Thank- you for your thread reply. I have tried another spray lubricant, as I know WD is not a good one. However my problem is I don't know how to remove the cabinet to actually get at the problem. I have a fridgidaire electrolux gallery series stacked washer-dryer,{ dryer on top } and basically I am only able to open the dryer door and spray through the vent holes around the drum motor. If someone out there could show me a diagram, how to remove the cabinet I would surely appreciate it. I have model # GLGT1031CSO. Thank-you |

Hi.
Based on the info you provided I think that you need to do more trouble shooting to be sure what is making that noise. Pull out the unit and open the access cover at the back so you can see the idler pulley and the motor. Run the dryer and try to locate the noise. Don't forget about the drum bearing located at the back panel. Here are the breakdown diagrams and Upper Cabinet / Drum / Heater parts for Frigidaire GLGT1031CS0 - AppliancePartsPros.com Post the results. Simon.
