My dryer began to fail by not restarting if the door was opened in the middle of a cycle. The dial had to be turned to the starting position of a cycle and then it would run the entire cycle. Now it won't start at all. As the dial is rotated through the various cycles, at certain points a small motor can be heard operating and the dial then continues rotating under its own power, but no drying takes place and the drum does not turn.

The dial cannot be depressed to start a drying because it never pops out.

The light in the drum is responsive to pushing and releasing the switch lever so there is power to the machine and at least part of the switch works.

Hello Paul,

Sounds like the problem is a bad timer. In order to find the correct part number and availability I need you to open the control panel and get all numbers from the original timer.

How many cycles are in the dryer: 3 or 5?

There are 5 cycles including 2 w/o heat. There are 3 separate numbers.

I should have added this is an Amana model #LE8567W2

Bad news Paul. Unfortunately 5 cycles timer is no longer available. The 3 cycles timer is still available but I'm not sure if they are interchangeable.
