We have a Maytag gas dryer Model: MDG8000BWW that it has a problem:

Switch Settings as follows:
“Temperature” = Regular
“Ultra Care” = Off
“Press Care” = Off

Timer Settings:
(1) “Intellidry Wrinkle Free Press Care” = Setting pointer must be in a certain spot before the “Start” button will turn the dryer on.
(2) “Intellidry Regular” = If pointer is set to “More Dry” the dryer starts fine but the cycle ends mid-way and the chime sounds but the clothes do not dry. If the pointer is then reset past the stopped point to “Less Dry” the dryer starts fine and the clothes dry but then the pointer continues past “Off”, the chime does not sound and the dryer does not shut off. We have to open the door to stop it.
(3) “Time Dry” = We set the timer to 20 minutes, pressed “Start” and the clothes dried fine but once again but the pointer continues past “Off”, the chime does not sound and the dryer does not shut off. We have to open the door to stop it

Please advise what should to to test components and/or parts I need to repair it. Thanks.

Sounds like the problem is a bad timer.
