Default thermal cut-off switch
Model Number: LEC7646DQ1   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: More than 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

I have a Whirlpool electric dryer (p/n LEC7646DQ1) which keeps blowing the thermal cut-off switch. I have replaced this switch 3 times, now. I have also replaced the heating element and the high limit cut-off. What else could be causing the thermal cut-off to keep blowing? (Ive, of course, checked for obstructions.)
I checked the cycling thermostat. The large terminals read 0 ohms and the small terminals read about 6.5k ohms. Could this be the problem?

Hi.

You need to remove the lint chute and make sure it's clean of the lint and so is the blower wheel housing Part number: 3396352

Part number: 3396352

Here are the breakdown diagrams and http://www.appliancepartspros.com/se...ec7646dq1.html

Post the results.

I have a Whirlpool electric dryer (p/n LEC7646DQ1) which keeps blowing the thermal cut-off switch. I have replaced this switch 3 times, now. I checked the cycling thermostat. The large terminals read 0 ohms and the small terminals read about 6.5k ohms. Could this be the problem?

Update: I cleaned out the lint chute and replaced the cycling thermostat (along with heater element, thermal cut-off, high-limit cut-off.

I’m out of ideas…any suggestions?

Hi.

For how long the dryer works before blowing the thermal cut - off?
Remove the toe panel and time the heating element time on and off.(You should be able to see the element glowing).
Then remove the vent hose from the back of the dryer and repeat the timing.
