Model Number: LGR8858EQO Brand: Whirlpool Age: More than 10 years
I have been using the gas dryer for over 10 years and clear the ducts every couple last done 6 mo ago. Dryer will only start on cool down cycle and not on any of the heat cycles. What is up?

Hi.
Use the multimeter to check the timer contacts. Set the timer for TIMED REGULAR and with unit unplugged check the continuity between contacts GY-WB, BK-BU, T-W. They all should have continuity. If not - replace the timer Part number: 3397273 Here are the breakdown diagrams and http://cdn.appliancepartspros.com/im...29233726_2.gif Post the results. Simon.

I will check that, but the dryer runs on the cool cycles just not the heat ones. I am going to check the thermo fuse tonight.
I checked the continuity GY-WB and BK-BU are good T-W has continuity when the timer is in the off position. The thromo fuse and high limit and bias have continuity. The timer is working as it ticks and moves in all cycles. The heat cycles do nothing (drum does not move) but when the timer gets to the cool down the drum turns on and finishes the cycle. I will have to cheak the igniter next. Is there an interlock that would cause the drum not to work if igniter was bad? Last edited by jrss : 11-08-2012 at 06:29 PM. |

Hi.
You should replace the timer. If the T-W is open in the TIMED REGULAR you have a bad timer.
