I replaced the motor on my Maytag DG490. The instructions that came with the new motor were a little confusing. It works, but it won't stop spinning when the door is opened, you have to turn the dial to off.

1) I reterminated the blue and red leads in the same new 1/8" insulated terminal and connected it to switch tab 5. They are showing in the picture the blue going to the 1/4" tab 1 and not to the machine. What happens to the blue wire?

2) since the blue and the yellow wires are the colors that run to the door switch, I'm thinking this has something to do with it but I can't wrap my head around it yet.

3) also there were 2 yellow wires going into the motor that I reterminated and ran to swicth tab 6.

Any ideas?

If you still have the installation instructions which came with the motor then use the wiring information for the electric dryers in the instruction sheet (fig. 4A).

Where those white wire and two yellow wires are coming from?

Which wires are currently connected to the door switch?

yellow and blue to door switch. I have to doublecheck to see where the white and yellows come from, though I thought the white came from above (the controls?)

Looks like there is something wrong with those wires. Verify it and post the information please.

I don't think the white wire should be connected to the motor at all.

Look at the door switch. It has 3 terminals. They should be marked: COM, NO and NC. Which wire is connected to which terminal?

If you do have the wiring diagram for the dryer and you can post it, then it might help too.
