Model Number: MD5500 Brand: Maytag Age: More than 10 years
We have replaced the HI-limit thermostat, thermal fuse and Thermistor all at the same time, 3 different times now. the last time it only lasted 3 months before it broke down again.
Is there something else going on here or do we just have bad parts? Thanks for any feedback Ads By Google Related Models |

What is the symptom of the problem?
Did you test any of the parts with a meter to see what part is actually failing? It is very, very unlikely that all 3 parts failed at the same time. Have you checked for a grounded element? Have you checked/cleaned your vent system, including the exterior vent cover/flap? Also I cannot find any info on the given model number, please check it.

symptom is dryer wont start, lights come on and when you hit start button you just hear a spring sound. the reason we replaced all three parts is because we had a "maytag repairman" come out about a year ago when we had this problem and he did all kinds of tests and said we need these three parts and he showed them to me. Then he said it would take him a week to get them and two weeks to get back and install them. I asked for the part #'s and sent him on his way. Called you guys, overnighted the parts and installed them myself the next day. worked great for about 8 months and it happened again, so we ordered the same parts and it worked again. but now only 3 months later and same problem. I have not tested any of the parts with a meter, have not checked for a grounded element. I did have the vent professionally cleaned a couple years ago when we had our ducts cleaned. |

Here are your parts
Parts for Maytag MDE5500AYW Dryer - AppliancePartsPros.com Since the interval between failures is lessening the first thing I would check is the vent system, including the flapper/s on the outside vent. The thermistor should measure about 10,000 ohms at 70 degrees F. The original tech probably replaced the hi-limit because they felt it should open before the thermal fuse blew.
