Model Number: 110.77032601 Brand: Kenmore Age: 1 - 5 years
Hey guys. I didn't see another thread with my particular dryer and the same issue. Here's the situation. The City turned the gas off the our whole town for 4 days and my wife continued to run the dryer. Now that the gas has been restored, everything seems to still operate as it should with the exception of no heat. Any ideas of what could have been damaged by running it with no gas? Where should I go from here?
Thank you in advance for your help!! Ads By Google Related Models |

Hi.
Check if the gas valve is open. You may wont to purge the air from the line. If that doesn't help - replace the control coils Part number: 279834 Post the results. Simon.

Hi.
There is no adjustment to the gas flow. It's done by the pressure regulator (that what you were referring to) and it's preset. Check if the shot off valve behind the dryer is open. Loose up the gas connection and check if the gas will come out.Reconnect and make sure there is no leaks. Use a multimeter to check continuity at the control coils contacts (remove the connectors). No continuity - replace coils. If coils are OK and there is gas in the supply line - replace the safety gas valve Part number: W10398743 Good luck. Simon.

I have intermittent gas to my dryer - goes on for 10 seconds, then cuts off for 30+ seconds, then gas for 10 seconds.
Result is LOW HEAT. Cycling thermostat is new. I checked continuity on the control coils. Larger coil showed no resistance, the smaller, two-prong coil showed 1.5 on my analog ohm meter. What does this suggest to you? Thomas |

I still have intermittent gas coming on and shutting off:
The cycle is as follows: 1) Start dryer 2) 8 seconds, heating element lights up, gas fires up. 3) 10 seconds of burning gas. 4) Gas shuts off. 5) 10 seconds later, a click (very noticeable), and a slight hum. 6) THis goes for 6 seconds or so. 7) Then another click (same loudness). 8) THen heating element glows. 9) Gas fires up for SIX seconds, and then shuts off. REPEAT STEPS 5 - 9 until clothes are dry (an hour or so later). Cycling thermostat has been replaced (the original one was good) and overheating thermostat shows no resistance. Ideas? Something to do with the clicks and slight hum? I welcome your ideas. Thomas BTW, its a Kenmore 700 series, about 7 years old, but sitting idle for the past two years (I just re-attached it to get it going again), if that makes any difference. |

Hi.
Check the air flow through the dryer and venting outside. Remove the vent hose from the back of the dryer and run one load. Simon.
