I put money in and the light comes on and when you push the start button nothing happens

Could be a number of things;
1. Thermal fuse. if this is open also check/clean your vent system as that is the most common cause of it blowing.
2. Broken belt. Unit has a belt switch that opens when the belt breaks.
3. Door switch not closing.
4. Push To Start switch not closing.

There could be other causes but the above are at the top of the list.
