Model Number: DVL223EB4WW Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
Started a load of towels in the dryer yesterday and went out to run some errands. When I got back, the "sensor drying" had run itself down to off from the "more dry" setting I had put it on. However, the towels were still damp. Unusual for this dryer which usually has no problem completely drying a load. So, I put it back on "more dry," but this time nothing happened when I turned the "start" knob. There was no buzzing, no movement, no nothing. I've searched the forums, and DH did ohm tests on various items. He found the belt was broken, and a ton of lint inside the housing, so we vacuumed everything out, replaced the belt today, and put it all back together. But, the dryer still won't start. Still no buzzing or any recognition that it is trying to work. We are at a loss now. What else can we check?

Well, FH fixed the problem! Yes, the "D" in DH changed to "F" for "fabulous" when he got it working. The problem was a faulty breaker. He was getting some reading from the outlet, but not 240. He swapped with a spare 240 breaker and dryer is now running like a champ again.
I just can't believe the belt and the breaker would go out at the same time... Simon, thanks alot for your input, too! |
