I am trying to fix the problem with the gas dryer. I replaced the igniter and gas coils a week ago and the dryer worked fine for a few days. Now the igniter will not glow and I am having trouble figuring out why. I have tested the igniter, coils, thermostats and they all have continuity. What am I missing.

Hi.

When you are checking the thermostats do you take off one wire?
You didn't list the fuse and flame sensor in the parts you've checked.
Set the timer to timed regular and check continuity at T-WB, BK-BU, BK-R, T-W.
At the heat switch contacts 1-4 closed.

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for Maytag MGD5870TW0 29" GAS DRYER | AppliancePartsPros.com

Post the results.

Simon.

I checked the flame sensor but I can not find a fuse. I also pulled the wires on the thermostats, but will check the timer settings you suggest.

I'm having the same issue with my Maytag Gas Dryer MGD5700TQ0
It stopped heating on sensor dry first, now timed dry is working intermittently.

I checked the terminals you suggested T-WB, BK-BU, BK-R, T-W. They were all close to 0 except for T-WB, which was 30 ohms. Is this right?

This is at a tenant's house, so I don't have much first hand experience of the problem.

I checked impedance on ignitor, thermostats, and fuse and all looked good.

After I got it all back together, I ran it on timed dry and then the flame ran for about 2 minutes, then started cycling on and off. However there were no clothes in the dryer so this may be the correct behavior.

Does this sound like timer, coils, or something else?

Hi.

What was the original problem? What you are describing is a normal sequence.Do not test the dryer with out any wet clothing inside.

Simon.

The problem is not heating on sensor dry, and sometimes not heating on timed dry. Unfortunately, I didn't test it with wet clothes. I'm sure I'll hear soon if it is still not working properly. Will update then.. Thanks.
