Model Number: LEQ7030KQ0 Brand: Whirlpool Age: More than 10 years
I can set the cycle knob, and hear the timer clicking down.
But when I hit the start button, the tumbler does not spin. If I open the door, the light comes on, and I can see the orange glow from the heating element through the vent inside the drum. If I change the temp setting to "No heat", the element turns off. Shouldn't the heating element turn off when the door is opened? I never really noticed or checked before, so I don't know that it should, but it seems weird that it stays on. But anyway, the main problem is that the tumbler doesn't spin. I don't hear any sound other than the timer. No "whirring" from the motor, so I don't think it would be the belt. I can turn the drum manually by grabbing one of the fins inside. It doesn't turn freely, but it isn't "hard" to turn either. Any ideas where to start or what the problem may be? thanks in advance for any help. -George Ads By Google Related Models |

Hi, George.
Based on the info you provided there are two parts need to be replaced. The thermal fuse Part number: 3392519 The heating element Part number: 279838 The fuse is open and that's why the motor isn't running. The element broke and touching the box. Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for Whirlpool LEQ7030KQ0 DRYER | AppliancePartsPros.com Thank you. Post the results. Simon.

thanks Simon.
I removed the thermal fuse, and it indeed is blown (open). I removed the heating element and checked it. I metered the terminals and it shows the coil is ok : not open, but small resistance (10-20 ohms). i checked from terminals to housing and no short. However, the heating element appears damaged. The metal divider between the coils is buckled, cracked, and charred. I am guessing that even though the coils aren't contacting the housing, they are either arcing to it, or making contact when they heat up. Both parts ordered. Will let you know if everything is good after I replace them. Thanks, George |
