Model Number: RGD4100SQ0 Brand: Roper Age: 1 - 5 years
My Roper gas dryer auto timer has stopped working. The timer works on the timed setting. The clothes seem to take forever to dry also. There is not much heat. At times the air feels warm when I check the vent outside but usually it is cool. I have cleaned the lint trap, vent and vent hose. I also checked the thermal fuse as that had gone out a couple years ago, but it tested fine.
While the dryer is running I can see a glow under the drum every minute or so for about 5 seconds. Any ideas as to what else to check or where to go next? Any suggestions are helpful Ads By Google Related Models |

Hi.
There is the restriction in the air flow. Disconnect the vent hose from the dryer and run one regular load. If it'll dry OK and the timer will move - the vent must be cleaned professionally. If no big difference - clean the chute #1 on the diagram #2. Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for Roper RGD4100SQ0 29" GAS DRYER | AppliancePartsPros.com Post the results. Simon.

Simon,
I cleaned the vent hose, there is no blockage from hose to outside. I can stick my arm out the hose to the outside of the house. I also took the chute off and cleaned it. I can find no air restriction. The air blows fine out of the vent, which is why I am stumped. I am trying to take the thermostat off to test it, but I cannot get the leads off of it to test it, any suggestions? |

Hi.
Make sure that vent hose behind the dryer is not kinked when you push the dryer to the wall! If that's OK - install the jumper wire on the operating thermostat and check, then move it to the hi-limit. You may have 2 separate problems. Set timer to auto reg. and check continuity at the timer's contacts TM-OR. Open - replace the timer. Post the results. Simon.
