Model Number: 600 Brand: Kenmore Age: 5 - 10 years
I have a series 600 electric dryer that stopped working yesterday. When you hit the start button it does nothing. I noticed it was a little warm so i turned it off. When my daughter looks in there today, on the back wall where the heat comes in is bright red and you can feel the heat. I unplugged it. Does this sound like the Thermostat, or heating element, maybe something else? Any help would be apprciated.

It says MOD i am assuming it is the model #110.67632600
Last night i went down to look at it to see if maybe the problem was user error with my daughter. I tried to start it and nothing, but noticed the unit was hot. Turned it off. The next day my daughter looked in it and saw the heat vent in the back was bright red and it was hot in the drum. So i unplugged it. |

HI.
Most likely you have broken and grounded heating element Part number: 279838 And open thermal fuse Part number: 3392519 They both located at the rear of the dryer. Good luck. Post the results. Simon.

Yes it's possible if the element is touching the "ground".
You can check the element's continuity using the multimeter. Unplug the dryer and disconnect one wire from the element and check continuity, then continuity from the element to the frame. Simon.
