My dryer was making a screeching sound while drying so we replaced the dryer blower. I put in wet towels and it gave one last screech and then quit that sound and was nice and just drying until I stopped it and opened the door to discover that the drum was not turning. It was heating up. What is causing the screeching and it is the belt causing the drum not to turn

Hi.

Check if the belt is still on and properly installed. The sound may come from the idler pulley or the support rollers.

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for Maytag LDE5004ACW DRYER- ELE | AppliancePartsPros.com

Post the results.

Simon.
