the timer knob will not advance, no matter what time I set it on, the dryer continue to run, I have to turn off manually what could i do

Hi.

Using the multimeter check:

The resistor should be about 3.77 Kohm.
The timer motor contacts C-T should have 120 or 240VAc.
If the voltage present - replace the timer.
