My dryer can't decide if it wants to heat or not. One cycle it will heat just fine and dry nicely. The next cycle it won't heat at all.

Or, it won't heat at all the first time around, then I turn the timer again and start it up and it heats just fine.

A couple of times it has gotten really hot. Do you think it could be the thermostat?

Since your problem is intermittent, it is going to be a pain to find.

Yes the cycling thermostat would be at the top of my list.

I would carefully inspect the heating coil before replacing the thermostat.
