The thing started acting up yesterday. Started out with heat but shut off. I checked the ignitor with vom and got a reading around 70 ohms. The Kenmore manual says between 50-400 is OK. Also checked radiant heat valve and the thermal fuse and they both passed. The motor runs and the blower blows. When running you can hear the solenoids chattering now and again. I am assuming they are trying to open the gas valve. This leads me to believe that the solenoids need replacing. I came to this conclusion after reading a few replies in the forum. Am I on the right track? Thank You for your reply

Hi.

Based on the info you provided most likely it's the control coils.

The coils Part number: 279834
Part number: 279834

Thank you. Post the results.

Simon.

Thanks for the ultra quick response. I have the parts on order from APP. They should be here in a couple of days. My dryer is a Kenmore but the guts inside are identical to the machine in the video. I will post results of repair when finished.
Thanks Again
John

Hey Simon
I received my parts (coils) a lot sooner than expected, got them installed. It took me a little bit longer than the total running time of the instructional video. The dryer works great. I can hear the solenoids kicking in with a snap rather than a chatter. Total time down Sunday afternoon till Wednesday afternoon. That includes me checking what I knew to check, then discovering the repair forum submitting a thread, getting a response, ordering the parts, receiving and installing the parts to testing the dryer. I am very impressed. You guys are now my first go-to on my future appliance parts needs. Thanks Again
John
