The dryer runs but is not heating up. I have the front cover off. After looking through this site I was thinking it was the coils. I would like to be sure before I order the parts. I seen on here about jumping the wires by the heat tube to see what it does. I jumped both at separate times and got the same result. Dryer runs but no heat. nothing else. Are the chances good that it is those coils on top of the gas unit? or should i check something else? I do not have an ohm meter...

Does the ignitor glow? If so it is possible it is the coils. But I would not start just replacing parts when a cheap meter can be purchase for about $10. I do not know of any way to check the coils without an electrical meter. The electrical schematics should state, from my experience, what the ohms should be for a good coil. In other words if it says 1500 OHMs than if you check the coil and it reads 3200 OHMs than it is bad.

Thank you for the reply. i appreciate it. I know, I need a meter. should of had one by now as many times as it could have come in handy for me. already have the coils ordered. :/ probably be here tomorrow. i will get a meter as well. long overdue. the ignitor does not glow... hopefully it will be those coils. if not, the meter will help me out. will let you know. thanks again

well the coils did not work. i did notice that with the dryer running and tapping the ignitor a small spark came from the ignitor. also, my wife told me that just before the dryer stopped heating the washer was unbalanced and wobbling pretty good so much that it was up against the dryer. do you think that the washer hitting the dryer caused the ignitor to go bad? either way. gonna investigate some more and get that meter to help pinpoint the problem. any suggestions would be appreciated

When you get a meter I would check both of the thermastats. The inginitor and the flame sensor. If any are open that should be the problem. The chance that more than one part failed at the same time is pretty rare. Search the internet for videos on how to check them if your are not exactly sure.

ok, got my meter! so with the dryer unplugged i check continuity at all points and got nothing from the ignitor. I ran the dryer and checked the voltage at the ignitor and there was 120v but the ignitor would not work consistently. it did however inconsistently kick on and glow and I would get flame but like I said, inconsistent. sometimes the ignitor would start to get red but then turn off before actually igniting. so my conclusion is the ignitor.
