Model Number: 417.90802991 Brand: Kenmore Age: 5 - 10 years
The dryer side wiring harness (7-9 wires 2 plugs) is fried in my Kenmore stacked w/d. The worst part is down stream of the connector-the other side of the plug is fine. I have a couple of edgy looking terminals on the timer, but it seemed to work fine before I took it apart to investigate a noise involving the drum. I didn't discover it til I blew all the lint out and its beyond me how it worked at all in that condition. I can repair the harness but, it would be nice to know what caused this. I'm repairing this unit for a friend of mine so I don't have a complete history but I do know its had a rough life and the actual service has only been 2/3 of its 10 yrs. Any ideas?

Quote:
If connections aren't good and tight on the terminals you create points of electrical resistance which causes heat. You need to make sure that all connections are both clean and tight or it will eventually happen again after you repair it. |

That's the first thing I did when I reconnected it some 2mos. ago. closer inspection revealed something must've lodged between the squirrel cage & the housing as half the back of the fan is gone (ground away). Seems since I hooked the machine back up, 5 or 6 other people have been using it, rather than the pay machines. and the lint trap has since disappeared! I give up
