Exclamation Dryer makes rumbling sound when starts
Model Number: LDG9606AAE   Brand: Maytag   Age: 5 - 10 years

When you start the dryer it sounds ok for the first 5 seconds and then
it starts to rumble and then it strarts to make like a popping sound, like
popcorn popping. It also makes that rumbling sound when you stop
the dryer. Another thing I can do but I am not sure
you are suppose to be able to do this is that I can spin the drum from
inside the dryer. When the dryer is off I can reach my hand in and then rotate the drum. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Does it make a rumble sound for 2-3 seconds after it stops or just when it is running?

Do the cloths seem to dry ok yet?

The dryer will start then the rumble starts for a few seconds and then it does the same thing when it stops but doesn't seem to do the rumbling sound while the dryer is drying just at the beginning and end. When it is going it starts making a popping sound when it is drying the clothes. The clothes do get dry after the cycle is over. It is just that the dryer sounds like a train is going to be coming through our door any second. LOL

I would guess you are hearing the blower wheel.

Blower Wheel

They are plastic and get stripped out in the center were they connect to the motor.

If you remove the front of the dryer you will see the blower wheel.

Try to give the wheel a spin by hand and see if it's lose on the motor shaft.
If it is then replace it.

If the blower wheel is fine I would check the rollers the drum ride on.
