Hello,MY WHIRLPOOL ELECTRIC dryer wont start when I push the start button.I hear the timer still buzzing so It has power,but it wont tumble or start at all.When I push the start button I hear a click in the button but it wont start.I re-open the door and close it and press the start button again and I just get the same click but no starting.It makes this same click noise (once) every time I open and close it and press start. Thanks for any help you can give!

Cannot say for sure what the click is, could be the Push To Start Relay pulling in.

Problem could be the thermal fuse is blown.
Item 7 in the Bulkhead Parts section.

Best way to check is with a meter.

Jiggery pokery method is:
Unplug the unit
Remove and short together the 2 wires going to the fuse.
Tape them up so they cannot short to the frame/case.
Plug it in and give it a try.

If the fuse is blown replace it ASAP as it is a critical safety device.

Before reconnecting it to the vent system make sure you have good air flow out of the dryer.
Also clean and check your vent system, this is the most common cause of a blown fuse.

Thanks a million..so the thermal fuse will cause it not to start at all? And could my starter be working just fine and its the thermal fuse malfunctioning which is why I here the click everytime I press the start buttom?

Not quite sure what you mean by a starter but the motor must be running for you to get heat.

What I mean by starter is part #3398094 the Push-to-start relay.

Yes? the Push To Start Relay can be good and it will not start if the fuse is blown.

Thanks...you guys are the best.For now on I will purchase all of my appliance parts from you guys,even if I have to wait a little longer for shipment.Those dicks at Sears took my money and wouldn't honor their so called warranty when a heating element I bought from them went out in 4 months.I see that you guys have a 1 year warranty on all of the parts I need,your prices are better, plus you answered all of my questions so I will be buying from you for now on.

Did you ever get yours working? I have the same model dryer and it will not turn on. I have checked the thermal fuse as well as the thermostat and thermal cutoff and they all have continuity (except for the two purple wires closest to the red sticker on the thermal cutoff, which I do not believe should have continuity), bypassed the thermal fuse and the dryer still wouldn't start. Tested the outlet and the voltage is right, door switch operates properly. I'm at a loss for what I should try next! I tested the push to start relay and I get continuity between the two blue wires when it's pushed in, don't get continuity between the pink/black wire and any other wires when it is pushed in or out, not sure if I should be though.

Where would I go from here?

Alot of people have told me it sounds like the motor is bad - i have no clue how to test this. Is there a way I can test the motor? My equipment consists of a multimeter, and that's pretty much it. If there isn't an easy way, am I able to take it to a repair place (just the motor) to have them test it? I don't want to pay an arm and a leg to get it fixed after i've done all the troubleshooting.

Sorry if I hijacked this thread, MOD if I need to create my own I will, i figured it was relevant since it's the same model dryer.

My thermal fuse was bad and it started working after I replaced it. Im good at trouble shooting and replacing simple parts such as thermal fuses and heating elements etc.,but as far as your motor going bad as for the reason yours isnt working I think you should consult the experts at this forum.But yeah,it was just my thermal fuse...good luck.

Glad to hear it worked for you. I tested and bypassed the thermal fuse, no go. Tested the motor last night and it's good. Sounds like it's time to call a pro.
