Model Number: MDE5500AYW Brand: Maytag Age: 1 - 5 years

I have a Neptune Dryer with electronic controls - Randomly started buzzing -- The dryer seems to work, but the selector buttons do not all function normally. I tried cutting the power for an hour or so to see if it might reset but it didn't. If I turn it off, and restart it, some of the buttons work, but if I press a couple of them, then one by one they quit or they start the buzzing. If I turn it off and restart it again, the same thing happens.
It does run and dry clothes & it knows when the door is open it just seems like the controls for temp and dryness are not functioning. Sometimes the "off" button won't turn it off unless I open the door. The intermittent buzzing seems to be coming from a relay on the control board. I want to order the part, but don't know if I need AP4043476 , AP4042930 or AP4044079 , the control board. Can you help me? Thanks, Ralph
Ads By Google Related Models |

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for MAYTAG MDE5500AYW | AppliancePartsPros.com Here is a service manual http://www.servicematters.com/maytag...s/16023110.pdf AP4043476 is a white keypad AP4042930 looks like an ivory keypad AP4044079 is the control board Try running the diagnostics. Could also try cleaning the ribbon connector (see below) Your problem could be caused by bad connections or the control board. Though I would lean towards the control board since it seems very random. RIBBON CABLE CLEANING Unplug the unit Open it up Remove the ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board at the control board. Clean the edge connector. If it is the type where there is not a connector just the insulation is removed, it can be cleaned with a pencil eraser. Do not use an ink eraser as it is too abrasive. Check the tracks in the ribbon cable for hairline cracks. A magnifying glass helps here. Would not hurt to clean the connector on the board. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. Be gentle and do not reconnect till all the solvent evaporates. Reconnect everything and give it a try.
