Kenmore Stops on PST Release
I have Kenmore “Elite” Dryer Model No. 110-62972101 with the Even Heat feature. It worked fine for 10 years until yesterday when it would not stay running when the PTS button was released. While depressing the button for a short period the dryer ran and began heating. I did a little forum checking and apparently this is not an uncommon problem. I opened the control console and observed a toasted resistor (R2 or R32?) on the control circuit board (Even Heat Electronic Control Assembly). When I attempted to run the diagnostic test described in the technical literature found stashed in the control console, the Test Mode would not activate. Also, apparently while opening the the console and moving the wires, one of the red/white heater relay wires unpluged and the relay connector broke off when I tried to reconnect it. Murphy’s Law I guess, but it was heating before this problem arose, and obviously I’ll need a new relay. My question is, based on these symptoms can it be concluded a curcuit board failure is the problem and replacing it will fix the dryer or is it likley there is something else that caused the curcuit board failure? Thank for any help with this.
