I need to replace the motor and I'm having trouble removing the blower wheel from the motor shaft. I see the mark on the wheel for the left handed thread and used penetrating oil I but can't get it to budge using 7/8" 6pt socket. I have now stripped the corners off the plastic nut on the wheel. What am I missing here? I don't see any kind or retainer that would keep the wheel from unscrewing.

Ypou are not missing anything.

It is not uncommon for them to seize onto the motor shaft and the only way to get them off is to destroy them

Thanks, I'll order a new one - looks like you can't just buy the wheel, comes with new fan housing too.

Yes looks like you cannot just buy the fan, I looked it up at ApplancePartsPros.
