Model Number: 110.62066102 Brand: Kenmore Age: 5 - 10 years
I noticed a few days ago that pushing any of the buttons on the console panel to select a cycle ("Bulky Items" "Normal" etc) allowed me to start the dryer after pushing "Start." But the dryer would run for a short period of time then stop. I did this several times then the dryer appeared to work fine. Yesterday, when my wife pushed "Bulky Items" etc she didn't hear a beep and was NOT able to start.
The light is on, fuse at box is OK. What is the next step? Fuse inside dryer? I unplugged the power cord for over 60 seconds and plugged back in: same problem. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Ads By Google Related Models |

Perform the troubleshooting as described in the attached Tech sheet. Post the results.

Interestingly, this afternoon I did utilize the same guide you mentioned. Even more interesting, since I'm a novice, is that I did so before I read your suggestion. Unfortunately, I was not able to enter the test mode after following the instructions under "Activating the Diagnostic Test Mode," because all LEDs did not light and there was no display. I've already called Sears and they'll be here tomorrow to fix it. I'm convinced that the control board is inoperative. I will still check for other suggestions between now and the time the technician arrives, so that I can cancel if there is an "easy fix" as it were. However, my wife is already giving me the devil about it not working. I can only imagine her response when I tell her I cancelled the technician. And far be it from me to hinder her from getting the clothes done! If I were more savvy I could perform test #5, on page 6, and, if that didn't solve the problem, perform "Checking Touchpad Function" on page 7. Still, it appears to me that the board is bad. Thanks again. |

Hopefully, the diagnosis was correct and you will have your dryer back in business soon. Keep us posted. Gene.

[quote=Gene;744059]Unfortunately, you did not mention that in your first post. It makes a big difference for the proper troubleshooting.
When I first posted I had not yet utilized the troubleshooting guide that I found "under" the control panel. I didn't know it was there until after I began researching and taking the dryer apart - well after the first post. I'll post when it's back doing it's job to verify the Sear's tech's diagnosis. |

Sear's tech installed the board yesterday, applied power, and the dryer worked for two seconds then quit. Then we were back to the initial problem. A new board was ordered, as was a wiring harness. Will update after new board/harness are installed. |
