Hello. I have a WHIRLPOOL LE4900XMW1. The dryer is making funny thumpinging-type noises when it spins, like there's some sort of loose piece behind the drum. It started after I had to move the dryer and tilt it back and forth to put the wheels back on it (two had popped out) - I don't know if that's a coincidence or not. I know nothing is caught down behind the dryer vent area, so I'm only assuming that there's something else loose. It will heat up, but I'm afraid to run it until the noise issue is resolved.

I've replaced the power cord before on this dryer, so I figured I'd pull the back cover off and see whether anything is loose or hanging. Any ideas of what specifically to look for? Thanks.

Often banging is due to bad rear support rollers.

Sure sounds like a roller issue. Especially if that thump is rhythmic. See if one of them may have a flat spot it.

Hello. I've checked both roller wheels. each one is smooth and shaped as it should be. Do you have any other suggestions of what I should check? Thank you so much for your help, it is appreciated.

Check the indent where the rollers ride on the drum could be the drum is cracked or there is something stuck in the indent.

But the most common cause is the rollers themselves.

Thank you for the fast response. :) Sorry, I forgot to mention this - I did spin the drum and check the entire indent but that looked and felt fine. I'll double-check the entire drum for cracks and will let you know. Thanks again.
