I bought this Kenmore dryer used, and it functions just fine except that some of the clothes come out with a brown stain on them that looks like the same color as the front drum seal (I took a white cloth and ran it along the seal to verify).

What I believe is happening is that clothes are getting pinched in the gap between the drum and the seal, and picking up the color from that.

My question is this. When I take it apart to redo the seal, what do I need to make sure I do so the gap is properly closed and the clothes don't get caught in the gap?

Thank You for your help.

Hi....

You can't really set the gap.... it is what it is and the drum seals fill in the gap.
If you can get a white cloth dirty by simply wiping the seals, then the seals are causing the problem and need to be replaced.

Also inspect the front bearings, idler wheel, drum belt, and tumbler rollers for proper rotation, alignment, and wear.
