Yea, a really old dryer (35 years+) but still looks and runs good. With the exception of a recent problem... I have HIGH heat, but no LOW heat. Is ther a swithch or thermostat that could cause this?

I cannot find a wiring diagram for this unit so if you have it could you put it in a reply post.

Could be that you have a grounded element. Often you can see this.
Unplug the unit.
Remove both wires from the heating element and measure it for resistance. Usually they are between 10 to 13 ohms.
Then measure from each heater connection to the frame both should be infinite ohms.
If not the heater is grounded and the thermostats cannot control it.

If the main control thermostat is 3 wire or 4 wire then it probably has a built in heater. The contacts should measure 0 ohms. The internal heater should be around 10,000 ohms but they can be as high as 30,000 ohms.
Note that some 3 connection thermostats do not have an internal heater.
Either they gang one connection so they can attach 2 wires to it or the thermostat has common, normally open and normally closed contacts.
