Hi, I purchased a used Maytag dryer (model #MDE7600AYW). After switching the plug from a 3 prong to a 4 prong, I plugged it in and it makes a very loud squealing noise. If it helps, I can video tape the noise and post it to this thread. It event squeals when I manually turn the drum with my hand, when it's off.
I'm trying to determine the cause of the problem and how I should go about troubleshooting it to zero in on the issue. Any help you can provide would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,
The most common problem I see with this type of dryer that makes a noise like that is the roller above the heating element.
Take it apart, remove the drum and give the roller a spin by hand to see if it noisy.
Could be either drum roller, idler wheel, motor or anything else that turns, but most of the time I find the trouble maker is that one roller that is above the heating element.
