Our dryer is heating up intermittently @ start-up. When it doesn't light up, we're getting a strong gas smell. Once the cycle starts, if finishes properly. It doesn't appear to make a difference whether the dryer is hot or cold. We've done a thorough vacuuming of the interior. The intermittent nature of the problem makes it difficult to know where to start troubleshooting.

Hello . There are a couple things to check here.
Using a clamp on Amp meter, test for 3.2-3.6 amps on one of the igniter wires. With the igniter turned on, this is the correct amperage .You can use a ohm meter to aid you in this. You will read between 50 - 500 ohms on a cold igniter. If these parts check good, look at the door switch, it can also be checked with your ohm meter.Thank you
