How do you test the continuity of a 4-wire thermostat to check if it is bad or not? I tested a two thermostat and they are fine.

The dryer is running hot. I cleaned the vent checked the other thermostats. The one I need to check is the 4- Wire Theromstat. I need help to test this.

The part I need to test is Thermostat (4-wire) - L210-30F.

The dryer is a GE product, Model No. DBLR333EE2WW
File Attachment(s):
4-Wire Themostat.pdf (2,030kb) downloaded 6 time(s).

GE does not make technical data available for anyone except their own techs, so I do not have any specs on this machine.

Under the console you should find a wiring diagram that may show you the connections on the thermostat. You are look for the wires that control the cycling of this device, which is probably the two single blue wires in your picture.

If the thermostat is the problem though, then the problem that you have is not failure of continuity of the thermostat, it is that the thermostat is staying on too long. Continuity will not test for this, since discontinuity after it heats is what you want.

I would recommend that you take off the blower cover, check to make sure the blower is working correctly and that there is no blockage from the lint filter to the outside. This is more likely your over heating problem, but if it is not, replacing that thermostat is a probable solution.

Good luck.
