Thin Twin dryer can't start unless aided or empty. I suspect the motor. Will I need to replace any other parts at the same time? For example, do I need to replace the spring clips when buying a new motor? Thank you.

You do not need to replace the spring clips when replacing the motor.

I would not order any parts till you get it opened up and the blower off the motor. Fairly often the blower wheel is seized onto the motor shaft and is destroyed trying to remove it.

Also you may as well give it a bit of an overhaul so check the belt, all internal seals, the idler wheel, the drum support wheels etc. for signs of wear.

Thanks for the advice. I will attempt to remove the motor from the blower shaft before ordering anything. I will also examine the other parts...the question is whether I can discern their condition. For example, any tell tale signs that the belt ehould be replaced?

Yes if the belt is cracked replace it.

If seals are brittle ofr have obvious leaks replace them.

If the support rollers have bearing slop ot the shafts have wear replace them.
Also if they do not spin freely remove them and clean the inside of the bearing and the shaft. Then reassemble. A single drop of oil is also a good idea but only one drop of sewing machine or other light oil (not WD-40). Too much will attract and hold lint.

Be very careful if you have to remove them as the tri-rings (Item 20 in Section 4) break fairly easily.

Maybe it was said and I just missed it, but the blower wheel has left handed threads.

The rollers seem stiff. I removed hair and bound-up lint, but they aren't "free" spinning. I see the triangular hold. How do I disassemble the bearing and shaft to lubricate? Maybe I should stop by a parts store and ask to check out a new roller for comparison sake.

Take a small screwdriver or knife place it under the triangle ring and then pull that out of the groove, hold it there and then do this also on the other sides so the ring will slip off the shaft.

How to pull the motor? What tool does the square opening on the blower wheel take? Where do I grip it on the other side?
