My Maytag electric dryer is getting harder to start. The timer works fine, but when you pull the knob to start, it won't always start unless I push it sideways quite firmly. Do I need a new timer?

I have gotten several different answers as to which timer I need for my dryer. Can you tell me the correct one for the MDE8400AYW with a serial #12467877AV?
