Hello!
My Maytag electic Intellidry dryer makes a screeching metal-on-metal sound on-and off.
How do I open the lid to look inside?
What are a few possible sources of the noise?

Hi Bob,

Remove the one screw from each door hinge and remove the door.

Remove the two screws on other side of the door frame.

Grab the top of the front panel on each side, pull and turn it from inside out to release it from the clip. Pull the top of the front panel toward yourself to release from the bottom clips.

Remove the screw on top on each side held the security hook. Remove the security hooks.

Remove the two screws on each side held the shroud. Remove the shroud.

Remove the belt from the motor pulley and pull out the drum.

Inspect the idler pulley, the drum support rollers (on the back), the belt and the drum bearings (in the front) for wear and/or damages.

Check the blower wheel.

Replace all worn out and/or damaged parts. Clean the dryer inside.

- The part number for the bearing kit is AP4037304

- The part number for the drum support roller is AP204721

- The part number for the belt is AP285924

- The part number for the idler pulley is AP285227

- The part number for the blower wheel is AP285234

So I did the above diagnosis and have since ordered new Rear Drum Support Rollers and Axels. That will solve the metal on metal screeching, but since reassembling my dryer the start button does not work. The light inside the cabinet will come on with the door open and the sensor in the door seems to work because it extinguishes the light if I press it with my finger. Also, the moisture monitor seems to illuminate when I press the start button, but no action occurs from the dryer. It does not make a sound. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

The first thing I would do is disassemble the dryer and check all wire connections, especial the wires connected to the door switch.

Then check the thermal fuse (#10 at the diagram) for continuity.

- The thermal fuse Part number: 33001762
Part number: 33001762
