I have a Performa by Maytag PYE2200AYW dryer. The problem is the dryer will only work it the timer knob is in one position. If you turn the knob to a different position then it will not dry. It will run but no heat. Of course with these problems then the timer doesn't work either. We have to push the knob in to start the dryer and then have to manually open the dryer door for it to turn off.I think it may be the timer control. Does this sound like it is the problem?

Very likely the timer has gone bad. Locate the resistor connected to the timer (showed on the following picture) and measure its resistance. Normal reading suppose to be 3.77 K ohms ± 5%. If the reading is incorrect, replace the resistor as well.

- The timer Part number: AP4056595
