Gene, Following your procedure on the appliance parts pros forum on 2008-01-24, No Heat on Gas Dryer, I worked on my Whirlpool Gas Dryer, Model Number LG9501XTN1, for run but no heat problem. The fuse was be broken (infinity Ohm), so I replaced it with a new one. The dryer still ran but no heat. Then I took out the thermostat. When cold, its top and bottom connections showed continuity (0 Ohm), and the left and right connections showed 7.1 k Ohm. I was not sure whether it was blown, but I still replaced it with a new one, which showed the similar, i.e. the top and bottom connections show continuity (0 Ohm), and the left and right connections showed 6.9 k Ohm. The dryer still ran but no heat. When I took out the igniter, I broke its U-shape carbon head so I replaced it with a new one. The dryer still ran but no heat. I took out and measured the flame sensor, which was good with 0 Ohm. I also measured the gas valve coils, which had the Ohm readings as you indicated so this part should be good. I don’t know what to do now. I noticed that when I turned on the dryer by closing the door and pushing the Start button, the new igniter was burnt to red. Is there a problem of electric circuit? If so, what to do? Thank you. Adam

If you're getting a glow in the ignitor, but no flame, I would suspect either bad coils, or a bad flame sensor. You can test the sensor by removing the wires connected to it, taping them securely together, making sure they DON'T come into contact with any metal, and seeing if you get flame. If you don't, replace the flame sensor.

If you get a flame when you bypass the sensor, replace the sensor.
