Our dryer works fine on the timed setting though does not progress on automatic dry when there are wet clothes in the dryer. Yet, it does progress on high automatic when empty. We have reviewed other posts, though this does not seem to fit any perfectly for a root cause.
· Autodry high setting with clothes does not progress. Sometimes drys fully though never turns off. Other times clothes still wet and can smell gas in the drum when the door is opened.
· Autodry high setting when empty ran for 32 minutes then turned off. No gas smell when door opened.
· Confirmed the lint filter is clear.
· Confirmed the exhaust line is clear.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Thanks in advance for your help! Update. I purchased a new cycling thermostat and still have the same problem. With the back off, I see the gas occasionally ignites while more frequently the ignitor lights though no flame. Planning to purchase AP3094251, gas valve coil kit next. Am I on the right track?

Coil kit seems to have solved the problem... ignites empty repeatedly as it should. Going to try a load of the real thing.
