Dryer starts then stops when drum is manually moved
Model Number: MDE308DAYW Brand: Maytag Age: 5 - 10 years
Hello,
I have a Maytag electric dryer. It will start and run a complete cycle (on any of the three dryer settings) and then on the next load, it will stop after 2 - 5 minutes. At first I thought it was the timer, then my wife noticed that the light wasn't coming on when it was in it's non-start mode. I noticed that when I move the drum, the light can be made to come back on, and it will run...sometimes. When it does run, it does dry the clothes. Could it be the belt and/or belt pulley? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you. Ads By Google Related Models

Please specify which light comes on when you move the drum.

Most likely the problem is with door switch. With power off raise the top and check for continuity between white and yellow/black wires with door closed.
