My Roper gas dryer is not heating. I ordered a thermal fuse from which I have put on. Now when I turn on the dryer it has gas smell. What can the problem be????

Check the heating element to see if it glows when you start it,you may want to check the ports on each of the coils to see if they are not dirty or replace the coils?That's my suggestion.
