Default Dryer not producing heat
Model Number: YG20JN-4   Brand: Magic Chef   Age: More than 10 years

I replaced the motor in this 15 year old unit a couple of months ago without much difficulty, and dryer worked again like new. Now just recently, unit will run but does not produce heat. Looking for possible suggestions of what to look at for troubleshooting. Igniter was the first item to come to mind. Am I close? Assistance please. Thanx.

Hi Jeff,

The first thing I would check are the thermal fuse (on the air duct) and the hi limit thermostat (on the heater).

If any of them is open - replace both. The new part comes is a kit of the thermal fuse and the hi limit thermostat.

- The part number for the thermostat kit is AP415996

- Here are the break down diagrams for the Magic Chef dryer Model YG20JN4

Good luck.
Gene.
