Model Number: LG400AXW1 Brand: White-Westinghouse Age: 5 - 10 years
I have a White Westinghouse Spacemates dryer model LG400AXW1.
One of the two screws holding a fin has come off, the other is loose on the same fin. Since they are not accessible from the fin side, how do I access the screws on the back side of the drum? Thanks in advance Ads By Google Related Models |

I'm assuming the part you called "fin" is a vane (#30 on the diagram). If this is correct then you have to lift up the top panel to access these screws.

I was able to complete the repair to the vanes last night.
The screws that hold the top sheet metal plate (not a clip on style enameled top) were very very tight. It required WD-40, then a heat gun until it got pretty hot and then an impact driver. Curse them for using philips head round screws so I couldn't use a hex socket on it. I replace with hex screws, slightly stouter. All the vanes were missing the middle screw, plus one more one the one that started flopping loose. I wonder if the manufacturer didn't put any on the middle point or if all 3 middle screws had already fallen out over the years. Anyway, I replace all missing screws with slightly stouter ones, all hex head. Thanks for your help getting me through this! |
